Crazy 4 Challenges - C4C347

Here is the last challenge for this month and its Joanne who is choosing the themes.

So now onto our challenge! Here it is what Joanne said :

I love the ocean (thus the name of my blog).
Spending time there brings me peace and joy.
Make a card depicting the type of place that brings you peace and joy.

We hope you will play along with us.  If you do so be sure to link up your creations below. If you are uploading to an online gallery, please use the keyword C4C347.

Ahhh so regular readers out there will guess without a doubt my place of peace and joy.
Its my Crafty Palace and here is my card.
A quirky fun Crafty Palace with papers and stamps to give the card a whimsical look.
I have used the Karen Burniston Pivot House :)

The eagle eyed ones will notice I have added a little "Milo"

And here is my REAL PALACE

I look forward to seeing your places of PEACE and Joy

Until next week!

Karen Burniston Designer Challenge Part 2 July

Here is my card for the second part of the challenge this month and this tern is is Kelly Booth who has chosen the theme of STRETCH IT OUT.  use any of the Accordion dies for a project of any theme.

I needed to make a teachers card so I set about making this for Caiden's teacher using the Accordion Star die set.  I decorated with Poppy the Owl holding a few little hand made props.

I used the barn star included on the last panel to add detail.

Here you can see the detail of Poppy a bit better.

Be sure to check out the links to the LEFT for the other
ladies cards for this challenge and check out Karen Burnistons blog
Tuesday for her creation and video.

Poppy and the Star Accordion can be purchased from Crafts U Love UK based worldwide shipping or Elizabeth Craft Designs USA based worldwide shipping.

Crazy 4 Challenges C4C346

Hi Friends
Its me here again with another Saturday card for the Crazy 4 challenges blog.  You can see the other ladies cards HERE

Joanne is the person setting the challenges here  this month and this is her one for today.

July is National Hot Dog Month, probably due to the number
of picnics that occur at this time of year.  Let’s have
a picnic ‘connection’ on our cards this week.

And here is my card :)

I used Karen Burniston's Honey the bear and
with a few snips of paper I created Honey into Yogi Bear!!
I used to love watching Yogi bear as a kid and remember him
stealing the picnic baskets.

I mounted Honey onto Lorna Label Pop it Up die
which I cut slightly differently to create the two large platforms.

The Picnic paper was made using a Lawn Fawn Stamp and the
ant stamp I have had forever!!

I hope you have enjoyed my card this week.  I was really pleased how Yogi turned out.

Crafts U Love stocks Karen Burniston dies in the UK
Elizabeth Craft Designs in the USA.

Teacher Gifts

Been a busy week with Teacher and TA gifts.  I can not for now share the card I made for Caiden's teacher (that will be posted next Monday) but I can share the TA gifts and also a gift I made for a teacher who was leaving the school and who had taught Harvey three years in Primary school.

Here are the flowers I made for the Teacher and TA's in Caiden's School.  I used the
Flower Punch board.  I curved the stems so they stood on their own.

This is a last minute chalkboard I made for Harvey's old teacher

Close up of the butterfly that I got Harvey to made for the chalk board.
He said it was really fun crafting with me :) Probably something
to do with holding a heat tool and melting stuff!! LOL

I really love  making things!!  As if you didn't know that :) haha

Danke

Well last Monday and Tuesday morning I was nervously awaiting some visitors from Germany coming to see my Shed and myself.  Nervous, wondering why on earth I agreed to another TV thing. Those that know me know that I am nervous, shy and a worrier, if you know me as anything other than that let me assure you I am good at faking it!  9;15 they were due to arrive and they were almost spot on.  The car pulled up and I expected maybe 2 but 4 people got out of the car. One guy and 3 ladies.  Oh dear, what was I doing.  Tempted to lock the door and pretend I was out I opened the door and with my fake "I am confident" handshake I welcomed them all in the house.

Milo is always a good way to break the ice, he sped around the garden in excited circuits and was jumping up wagging his tail like he might actually take off.  They smiled a stroked him and I assured them eventually he would calm down. He did of course but he would go up to them over the next 2 days and got lots of lovely strokes and tickles :)

I was introduced to Katharina, Liz, Miriam and Boris  and we set to work filming the garden, the shed and me.  Numerous takes of the same thing, watering the plants, walking round the garden, feeding the fish and talking.  Slowly but surely my nerves disappeared as I realised they were all rather lovely!  Katharina and I having a bit of a chuckle at things and she spoke amazing English, Liz was the only one who didn't speak as much but I assured her  it was a MILLION times better than my German.

The weather was not as hot as this past week, thank goodness it would have been a killer in 30+ heat, so for their visit it was a pleasant temperature with showers forecast. We decided to do the outside bits first and then move to inside later that day and then Tuesday they were going to meet me at work and then back here later on again for more inside bits.  They also wanted to meet the family and see me in my shed at night. I  told Darren of the plan and he said he didn't want to be filmed, I told them, the kids were fine, Darren not.  That was ok, not everyone wants to be on TV. :)

It was a long first day, fun non the less and they went off to their hotel in the early evening. Arranged to meet at work 1pm the next day and I was thankful it was a later start as I was so tired.  After a short stint at work they left at the same time as me, I let them in the house and I went to collect the kids.  Even later that evening after more filming in various stages and YES they did get Darren filmed, not interviewed but filmed with the kids.  They went off for their evening food and came back like 9 or 9.30pm to see the things in the dark.

At the end of it I felt so pleased I had done it, they were lovely lovely people, they not feeling aggravated by me who is of course a complete novice at these things!  Even after the third take of hundreds of buttons pouring through my hands, I eventually got that right, an arty shot I do believe!  How much quicker is it to pour these buttons than pick them up ?  We learnt that quickly.

We laughed with Boris the cameraman as I showed him "The Who's"  Boris the Spider on you tube.  And I could not help but rush to make a gift for Katharina who had been so good with me.So whilst they popped out for their meal I made a chalkboard with a Polka Dot red paper and a Polka Dot Red Button that she had been eyeing up for the 2 days.  I was just sad I could not make them all something in that short time.  I'll forgive Boris for nearly burning down the Palace after moving a clip light!   I said it would be the "Kill Boris Show"  had it really burnt down.   :)

Apparently the programme will be broadcast sometime next year and if I find out when I will let you all know.

Here is a little collage I made with these lovely people.  I hope to keep in touch with them.

Just another crazy night in my Crafty Palace!

Crazy 4 Challenges - C4C345 - Sketch

It is the third week for this months challenges and the third week is always a Sketch.  So here is the sketch that I based my card on.

We'd sure love to see your take on it, so be sure to link up your creations on the Crazy 4 Challenges Blog. And if you are uploading to an online gallery, please use the keyword C4C345.

Obviously with challenges they are open to your own interpretation and this in mine.

Changed around slightly but I do have all the elements on there such as the three embellishments, the oval, a image and the strip.  So you can see these are just ideas to get your creativity going.

You can see the rest of the girls challenge cards HERE

I have used the very lovely Penny Black stamp for my main image.
You can get that from Crafts U Love

Designer Challenge - Karen Burniston July pt 1 - "up"

Hi Crafters and today I am here with the new format for the Designer Challenge for  July (and for the foreseeable future).  Instead of one post a month, we are joining in with two posts featuring one card every month. First of which is Karen Burniston's theme and the second theme is a theme that a fellow team member has chosen.  We the designers will post on a Monday and Karen will post on a Tuesday.  So please do check out the others posts.  Links to the left.

This is to spread the KB love and the inspiration through out the month and not just one week in the month. So as well as the Wednesday with posts that run on the Elizabeth Craft Designs Blog you will see 2 DT posts.  How great eh?!

This first challenge weeks theme is "Up" and we are allowed to interpret it how we want to.  I don't know why but I had a crazy notion to send someone up to space and thus my "JINKS IN SPAAAACE"  card was born  (said in the voice of PIGS IN SPAAAACE from the Muppets)

Here you can see Jinks peering out his space shuttle

Can you tell what I used to make it??  I will reveal below.

For the card I used :

Jinks the Monkey
Barn Pop Stand
Basket from the Hot Air Balloon for the "Boosters"
Grass from the Fence Set
Star Edges for decoration
Scalloped Circle from Ring Accordion

I had real fun making this card.  I love to look at dies and create new things from them.
Who would have thought a Barn and Basket would create a space shuttle!

Until next time, which is on 25th July :)  and you will have to pop back to see
what and who has chosen this month.

I caved in last week... then I sort of didn't

Stressed out last week too many craft projects on the go plus massive tidy up for more tv crews coming to the palace Monday I admitted defeat and purchased 2 birthday cards.  Might not suprised you have both were for  males.

My nephew Kieran was 18 yesterday and his was one of the purchased cards.  However I did find some time Friday night and I chopped up the purchased card and sorta made it my own.  A good idea when you are short of time or simply don't have stamps or dies on a particular theme.

Felt less guilty then  😁

Crazy 4 Challenges - July C4C344

Hi Crafting Friends
I am back with my second card for the Crazy 4 Challenges blog and this months challenges are from Joanne.

Today's challenge was :  Cheer up the Lonely Day.  Lets Create Cards of Encouragement.

I decided on the card before I choice the sentiment an what better a encouraging card than being told "you 're the bestest".

Here is my card :

Here you can see the card opened and the sentiment is a very old one that
I have had many years from Penny Black.  Opened you can also see the butterfly that is
animated on the pull arm so when the card is opened it flutters across the page.

Another opened card and seeing it from a slightly different angle.

And here is the card from the front.

 I have used :

Karen Burniston Oval pull card
Studio Light Flower and Butterflies
Simple Stories Paper
Some lovely cardstock and daubers and inks to add colour.

Please take time to check out my fellow team mate cards and their blogs are below.

July Guest Designer Alexis Crossland-Smith

The above ladies are regulars at the blog but not necessarily all able
to take part in this weeks challenge but I have included them anyway as
they all have fabulous cards regardless.

Crazy 4 Challenges - I'm in the team!

I was pleased when Frances asked me if I would like to join the Crazy 4 Challenges blog as a full time member, thinking Hmmm am I am little crazy?  I have a lot to do already and I decided, nope I can do this and I accepted with pleasure.  So I think it was only Weds night or Thursday Frances asked me and said "Start when you want to".  So I thought, what the heck and I will join right in with this Saturdays challenge.

So the Challenges this month are being set by Joanne.  And  her challenge this week is :

I have just returned from my annual trip to Maine.
One of my favorite places on Earth is Nubble Light,
a beautiful lighthouse in York, Maine.
I could sit there for hours looking at and listening to the ocean.
This week, let’s honor lighthouses on our cards.
If for some reason you do not have a lighthouse image,
 then create an ocean scene.

Now I don't actually own a light house, so I had to go with Ocean scene.

I had very little time and I knocked this one up very quickly, but I was still pleased how
it turned out.  I used the Sweet Dixie Seahouse and Seaweed/Shells dies.  One of my all time favourite Penny Black words, I don't know why but I do love this simple text die.

Just a little close up of the seahorse and bubbles!

CHECK OUT THE CRAZY 4 CHALLENGES BLOG to see the other cards
and why not join in yourself and link it up on their page?
